My Sextrology

This is a hoot.

CAPRICORN MAN

Capricorn man is the zodiac’s consummate sophisticate. His protocol is to remain unruffled and aloof in every circumstance, embodying an ultimate sense of relaxation that remains his perpetual raison d’être. When it comes to love, he’s drawn to a woman with old-guard values, if not solid old-money investments, with whom he can share a traditional lifestyle: he as the front man, she happily supporting and providing a stable, functional home life. As archaic as it sounds (Cap is something of a relic when it comes to relationships), his perfect mate is a lady-wife type who’ll share his conventional family view while not questioning his autonomy.

Subject: Hey.

Feel good about this: You didn't have to choose between Kerry and Bush for PM.  Headache better now?

Well.
I'm pretty angry.
Congratulations Mike Freakin' Chong. A conservative. Who is the candidate who won in my riding...by less then 1000 votes.

I am so mad. This makes my headache worse.

I should have expected this because hello. I live in HILLSBURGH. The most conservative place in the world. And what we aren't conservative about, well, we do a damn good job of pretending.

Movie Goer Assaulted at Fahrenheit 9/11 Showing

Movie Goer Assaulted at Fahrenheit 9/11 Showing

[rizzn's note: what else would you expect from those guys at MoveOn.org?  Rabid dogs, is what they are!  Sheesh!]

(Jun. 25) -- The highly anticipated film, Fahrenheit 9/11, came with more than just controversy at one Las Vegas movie theatre. Moviegoer, Richard Streeter, was one of the many who made his way to a theatre to see what the hype was about. After viewing the film, he was greeted outside the theatre by members of the Las Vegas MoveOn.org.

The group was handing out leaflets on the importance of the film. Streeter voiced his view on the movie, "I made the comment, apples and oranges -- Kerry, Bush -- one's no better than the other. You really ain't got much of a choice. This guy comes up to me and says, 'Oh yeah?' " Streeter was then spat on by the same man.

He attempted to call police to report the incident when he was told not to, "A guy standing next to him said why don't you drop it. I said, 'No, I'm calling the police. I'm exercising my right as a citizen, I've been assaulted.' "

But the horror kept on growing for Streeter as he walked to his car on the phone with police, "This guy turns, and totally by surprise takes his hand and bam! It was a big guy. Shoved me onto the ground, I hit my head." A police report has been filed.

Venture Capital Activity Very High

Venture capital activity was extraordinarily strong this past week as aggregate investments pushed to a new zenith of $582 million from the prior high of $558 million earlier this quarter. Venture capital investments continue to climb this week with another surge of 41%. The $582 million was raised primarily by California based software companies. In addition, six companies began trading on Wall Street with over $384 million raised through IPOs.

AOL Spam Espionage

AOL says worker sold screen names: It'll be fascinating to see how this plays out.

An America Online (TWX) software engineer was charged Wednesday with stealing 92 million AOL screen names and selling them to a spammer, federal prosecutors in New York said. [...]

Both [the AOL worker and the man he sold the addresses to] were arrested at their homes Wednesday, authorities said. They face up to five years in prison and fines of $250,000 under a national anti-spam law.

Does AOL really have 92 million active user accounts? Or was he selling him expired names?

A chat with an Iraqi Chick I just had

ranakkc: hi
ranakkc: asl

Rizzn: 25/m/florida
Rizzn: you?
ranakkc: cool
ranakkc: 27,f,iraq
Rizzn: really!
Rizzn: are you an iraqi native?
ranakkc: yup 4 both
Rizzn: very cool.
ranakkc: sure
Rizzn: well, it's just that i don't run into iraqi people every day.
ranakkc: not even every year
Rizzn:
ranakkc: nice 2 meet anyway
Rizzn: yes.
Rizzn: Mind if I put you on my buddy list?
ranakkc: k
Rizzn: My name is mark, btw. What's yours?
ranakkc: rana
Rizzn: so what do you do for a living?
ranakkc: i'm an electrical engineer designer
Rizzn: Neat.
Rizzn: I'm a software engineer.
ranakkc: cool
Rizzn: do you do much traveling?
ranakkc: no
ranakkc: when i was alittle girl
Rizzn: What area do you live in? Baghdad?
ranakkc: jihad sector
Rizzn: where is that geographically? I'm not familiar with that term. (most of what I know about Iraq right now comes from the major media, you must forgive me).
ranakkc: it's weat baghdad
Rizzn: oh, okay
ranakkc: k
Rizzn: If you don't wanna talk about this stuff, lemme know, but I'm curious as to how you feel about American troops in Iraq. I know the media is always trying to tell us that you hate us all there, and our government tells us that you love us all there. I don't know what to believe.
ranakkc: we just want u 2 leave in every possible fucken way but u still don't & don't want 2 get it that clear
ranakkc: just leave
Rizzn: What did you feel about Saddam?
ranakkc: i support him
Rizzn: So you support his extermination of the Kurds and the Marsh Arabs?
ranakkc: yes
Rizzn: Are you Sunni or Shiite?
ranakkc: when u betraid yr country u deserve 2 die
ranakkc: sunni
Rizzn: What did they do to betray their country?
ranakkc: they were with the iranians in our war with them
ranakkc: they were kiling our solders from behind
ranakkc: some of them join the army 2 kill
Rizzn: I thought that the Iran-Iraq war ended in the 80's. Is that incorrect?
ranakkc: but his bullets were in the opposite right directin they were in hif friend chest
ranakkc: 1988
Rizzn: But the Kurds were killed in 1992 (100,000 of them).
ranakkc: u were talking about Halabja & al-Anfal right?
Rizzn: I was talking about what happenned in Cizre.
ranakkc: where?
Rizzn: Were the women and children involved in betraying Iraq as well?
ranakkc: they were their wives & children they were supporting them,& yes they were transport weapon 4 them
Rizzn: Americans troops have been guilty of the same things in the past, in small numbers, but our culture considers that sort of thing an atrocity, regardless if they were aiding the enemy or not.
ranakkc: yr what?
ranakkc: culture!!!!!!!!
Rizzn: our society, our culture.
ranakkc: from where did u get it?
ranakkc: hah
ranakkc: u must b kidding
Rizzn: Our society is formed by the relationships of individuals living in a similar geographic region.
ranakkc: u don't even like long nation history like others
Rizzn: It's a term for relationships.
Rizzn: Our culture is based on the very same cultures you come from. We are Jews, Christians, Atheists, Muslims, Buddhists all living in the same country. It's a mixture of every culture worldwide.
ranakkc: i know
Rizzn: So how can you blast our culture with ridicule when many of it's essential elements are the same as yours?
ranakkc: u r amixture of many cicilization poured in 1
Rizzn: Right.
Rizzn: It's very easy to get along with everyone when you realize we all stand for many of the same things. None of us want to allow murder in the streets, or theivery, or rape, or anything like that. Most religions follow their own version of the 10 Commandments.
Rizzn: Anyways, I'm not really here to debate you.
Rizzn: I was just surprised that Saddam really had support.
ranakkc: u must b sure of that
ranakkc: if he goes in with the new elec he will have apersentage not less than 40%
Rizzn: Doesn't he have to stand trial first?
ranakkc: he will not
Rizzn: Hrm.
Rizzn: That's very interesting.
ranakkc: wait & u'll c
Rizzn: We have a saying in our country.
Rizzn: Actually, it was coined in Germany, during World War II
Rizzn: But basically it goes like this: "First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew."
Rizzn: "Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist."
Rizzn: Then they came for the trade Uninionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist."
Rizzn: Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me."
Rizzn: That's the problem that I see with countries that aren't democracies or republics, or something with a voting process.
Rizzn: if you elect a facist into power, they can come for anyone they like at any time.
ranakkc: if he goes down every1 will even some of yr flags in the white house
Rizzn: What are you saying, exactly?
ranakkc: about saddam
Rizzn: If saddam goes down, everyone will ... ?
Rizzn: go down?
ranakkc: that they can't judge him
ranakkc: not while they r on the top of the pyramid
Rizzn: I'll be right back... I must go pay for my food.
ranakkc: k
Rizzn: I am back.
ranakkc: so fast
Rizzn: It was a delivery.
ranakkc: but still wb
Rizzn:
ranakkc: i c
ranakkc: know it makes sence
Rizzn: Hey, there are no hard feelings towards me, as a person, right? You know I'm not personally attacking you, right?
ranakkc: sure
ranakkc: i weren't still talking 2 u if i felt that was yr feelings
Rizzn: Personally, I feel that while I may not agree with your point of view in supporting Saddam, I CERTAINLY don't agree with the way our country has been run for 30+ years.
ranakkc: so...
Rizzn: My philosophy is that America is the worst country in the whole world, except for all the other ones.
Rizzn: basically, a funny way of saying, I may not like our country's policies, but it's what I'm stuck with.
Rizzn: and it's not horrible.
Rizzn: I'm going to get back to work now.
Rizzn: It was very informative and fun talking to you.
Rizzn: It was very informative and fun talking to you.
ranakkc: u should not say such athing about yr country even if it was bad 1 & sucks infront any1 sp a1 from other country u must learn how 2 respect yr country
Rizzn: Don't get me wrong.
Rizzn: I respect my country
Rizzn: I enjoy living here.
ranakkc: i hope
Rizzn: But I know we aren't perfect.
Rizzn: There are big problems with my country.
ranakkc: sure
ranakkc: no 1 is
ranakkc: i know
Rizzn: One of the things I like best about my country, though, is that I do have the freedom to talk as critically as I want about the leadership and the way it is run. That's one of the most important things in our constitution. That's how we change things here. It all starts with complaining!
ranakkc: good luck in it then
Rizzn: heheh
Rizzn: thanks
Rizzn: I'll talk to you later, definately.
Rizzn: I had fun speaking with you.
ranakkc: me 2
ranakkc: bye

An email forward I just got. A little cliche, but contains a few valid points.

I think this is great

If the US government determines that it is against the law for the words "Under God" to be on our money, then, so be it.
...............................................................................
And if that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.
...................................................................................
And since they already have prohibited any prayer in the schools, of which they deem their authority, then so be it.
....................................................................................
I say
"so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.
......................................................................................

I say, "so be it,"
because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions.  I would like to think that those people have my best interest at heart.
.....................................................................................
BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'd LIKE?

......................................................................................
I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter & Sundays.

...............................................................................
I'd like the US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter as well as Sundays.
...............................................................................
I'd like the Senate and the House of representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break."
................................................................................
I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday, Easter & Sundays.  It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct".
...................................................................................
This would not effect any "non-governmental" business since everyone else still has the freedom of religion, we could all still enjoy our holidays.
....................................................................................

So I guess if they continue to bow to the wishes of the few, and if this email gets out to the right people, maybe they would bow to the wishes of the many.
....................................................................................

So be it...............Amen and God Bless

some CAM MAFIA original music

Clav did this and then I put more sounds to round out the sound in it a little better.

I really like this.

It's called "Yellow Ghost" (dj riz remix)

well, my servers will definately be taking a beating soon....

ER1C from the c-m chatroom pulled this practical joke and expects to be slashdotted for it.... and in other news, I volunteered my server for a site that just got slashdotted, the gmail give-a-way thing...

Hrm.  Just thought of something.  I should probably clean house on this page.  Y'know... clean up the code, make things look presentable.  I've let the site get kinda stale.  Lots of tables not centered correctly, lots of show archives not put up properly.  Sheesh, I need about 20 more hours in my days.

I have a terabyte of bw on those servers... I say why not.  Test the limits, man.

In other news, c-m is going thru some radical changes.  (yes, more radical changes).  Stay tuned for details!

1989 EDITIONS OF "BRAIN DAMAGE" NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

[Rizzn's Note: I'm going to see if I can't sneak this into the schedule some where on cam-mafia.... this is some good stuff, I've listened to some of these.]

Another year of the WUSB radio show "Brain Damage" is now available for downloading or streaming here. These episodes (36 in all) are from 1989.

This was a very historic year in world history. The Berlin Wall came down, unfortunate events transpired in China, and the days of Reagan finally came to an end. There are more episodes of "Moscow Mailbag," "Germany Today," and other pieces from various countries of interest. Throughout it all, callers from the local area weighed in on the issues and spent a good deal of time creating brand new issues of their own in a unique style. Listen for provoking exchanges on such topics as censorship, racism, AIDS, religion, gun control, music, and travel. In addition, there are historical markers for such monumental events as the death of Abbie Hoffman, the San Francisco earthquake, and the Galactic Hacker Party.

Brain Damage aired from 1988 to 1995 on WUSB radio. 1988 is the one year remaining which has yet to be put online.

Using Brain-based Control For Unmanned Vehicles

Even the least graceful among us has motor control the most high-tech unmanned undersea vehicle would envy, thanks to a region of the brain that allows our bodies to carry out complex maneuvers.

The Office of Naval Research, which traditionally relies on the power of the human mind to achieve breakthroughs in science and technology, now also is harnessing the working principle of the brain to control the maneuvers of UUVs.

This summer at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI, a mobile autonomous research vehicle (MARV) fitted with an agile "brain-based" controller will attempt to smoothly and quietly maneuver itself in and out of a docking tube. This tricky feat could be critical to future missions in which UUVs might carry out missions too dangerous for humans.

ONR project sponsor Tom McKenna says that the controller, developed jointly by Russia's Nizhny Novgorod State University and Institute for Applied Sciences and New York University Medical School, mimics the part of the human brain that controls balance and limb movement, known as the olivo-cerebellar system.

Engineers at Nizhny Novgorod built the integrated circuits that serve as a model of the agile controller. McKenna explains that it represents a "weakly chaotic system" of neurons coupled in a pattern that enables the controller to emulate the function of the olivo-cerebellar system.

The controller can be used to replicate not only the human body's ability to carry out complex maneuvers but also, for example, the wing control of birds and insects as they adjust their angles of flight.

In the case of the MARV, the controller will manipulate the movements of high-lift actuators that change the direction and speed of the vehicle's motion. This capability could be exploited both by autonomous military and commercial systems that require highly precise movement control.

RIAA : Smells Like Big Brother

RIAA's new target: digital radioRecording Industry Association of America has crafted a proposal to American regulator, Federal Communications Commission, that would add DRM functionality to the digital radio platform used in the United States. Organization plans to submit the proposal to FCC next week.

RIAA is concerned about the fact that terrestrial digital radio stations deliver audio in "too good quality", typically bundled with meta data (such as artist name and song information) making it easy for listeners to make CD-quality digital copies of tracks played over the airwaves.

RIAA proposes restrictions to upcoming digital radio recorders that would make it possible for listeners to record digital broadcasts, but would not allow dividing the broadcasts into individual songs. RIAA also wants to add a "copyright flag" to the equation, making it possible for content owners to set up a flag that would tell the recording devices that the broadcast can't be recorded at all, not even in full form.

Over 300 American terrestrial radio stations already do digital broadcasting, typically in addition to their analog broadcasting. RIAA's proposals wouldn't affect to the two satellite radio operators, XM and Sirius, as -- according to the RIAA -- they "...have an incentive to limit it [digital recording] ...".

Rizzn, your subconscious mind is driven most by Peace

You have a deeply-rooted desire to make peace in the world. Whether through subtle interactions with loved ones, or through getting involved in social causes, it is important to you to be able to influence the world in a positive way.

You have a deep respect for humankind. You care about the future of the world, even beyond your own involvement in it, and you inspire others to feel the same way. Your innate drive toward peace guides you in daily life towards decisions that are respectful toward yourself and others.

Your psyche is very rich; the more you learn about it, the more you will understand who you really are.

People who have unconscious minds driven by peace tend to be independent thinkers who often prefer to live by their own high personal standards and moral code.

Off to Zephyrhills...

RIP grampa.

My maternal Grandfather died Sunday of a stroke.  I loved him, but I didn't get to visit him as often as I like.  I hadn't seen him since middle school, in fact.  I had just gotten my transportation in order this week and I was going to go up and visit him.

He died peacefully.  How it was relayed to me: he had a stroke Friday night, and he was basically gone at that point.  He hadn't had any health problems to speak of the last 40 years, and so his body was so strong, it took until Sunday for him to die clinically.

I miss you Grampa.

Love,

Mark.

Okay. Say trigonometry backwards.

This is what it sounds like (see second link for full explanation)

RIAA do not represent the recording industry

(12:57pm EST Thu Jul 24 2003)
I just finished reading your article on your website regarding the Recording Industry Association of America [RIAA] and law suits they are filing against individuals using peer-to-peer software to share music files over the internet. I represent Dust Traxx, Inc. We manage 27 active House and Techno labels worldwide with a roster of 175 artists globally. In 2002, we were the world?s largest producer, manufacturer, and distributor of House music with 390,000 pieces of vinyl sold.

Something that you failed to mention in your article (which I have noticed other publications ignoring also) is that the RIAA only represents a small handful of large record companies. They are not a large ?industry? watchdog group or cartel open to the recording industry to join. Here is a list of members:
http://www.riaa.com/about/members/default.asp You will note that 2/3 of the smaller named labels are actually owned by the larger companies such as Sony making the list itself deceptive in nature. Their claim to members producing 90% of the recording industry market on their webpage is also false.

Besides the fact that the RIAA is deceptive in its claim to represent the recording industry, they are filing suite against people trading songs through peer-to-peer software without real cause to be filing the suite. Take a look at the songs they are claiming in their suites are being traded illegally. Some of these songs are NOT owned or licensed by RIAA members making the RIAA claim to copyright infringement invalid.

As one of the largest dance music companies in the world, I can tell you that we are NOT opposed to peer-to-peer trading of music. We feel that the dinosaurs in the industry need to catch up with technology and consumer demands instead of trying to stomp on the consumers it wants to buy its music. Despite the claims to quality of a peer-to-peer shared song, it is NOT as high quality as a piece of vinyl or commercially manufactured CD. We believe that those sharing songs are mainly young teenagers who once they have consumable money to spend will go out and purchase music as adults.

Furthermore, what about the unlicensed version of Linux the RIAA is using to operate it's website?

As a record label group, we are opposed to the actions of the RIAA in suing individuals, and we are not afraid to speak accordingly. I have personally spoken to at least 20 other companies such as mine around the U.S. since the RIAA took steps to file suites against individual file traders, and I can tell you that the INDUSTRY as a whole is AGAINST these lawsuits by the RIAA. This is going to backfire on the INDUSTRY not help it.

Best Wishes,
Chuck Paugh

Google's Ph.D. Advantage
by Hemos (32% noise) View Skip
Frisky070802 writes ?The New York Times reports on Google?s success and desire in hiring Ph.D.?s
(free registration required). It says that Google?s willingness to let every employee spend 20% of his or her time on an independent project is a compelling motivator and that they estimate that Google has as many Ph.D.?s working for it as Microsoft, which is 30 times larger. How many other companies put ?Ph.D. a plus? in their want ads??

Quote of the Entry: America is a country where the minute one person stands up and says, "That's impossible," someone else walks in the door and announces, "We just did it." - Thomas L. Friedman

Execute Virus-Writers?

In a piece that's been descibed as "creepy" (by Ed Felten) and "witty" (by Ernest Miller, blogging with a heavy dose of sarcasm), Slate's Steven Landsburg continues his quest to give economists an even worse name with a cost-benefit proposal to execute virus-writers. His reasoning: viruses do $50 billlion a year in damage. If we could deter a fifth of one percent of that with a well-chosen execution, that'd be worth as much as the ten statistical lives each death penalty execution currently probably saves.

"hiv" is properly pronounced "hiv", not "aitch eye vee".

something utterly disturbing i recently discovered: britney spears is a "slave 4 u", prince would "die 4 u", aaliyah will "care 4 u", a tribe called quest is "hot 4 u", mr jinks wants to "ride 4 u", guy sebastian says "i 4 u" (& u 4 me), lil' flip is "cut 4 u", ol skool is "still here 4 u", ja rule is "down 4 u", warrant says it's "all 4 u", alanis morissette is "bent 4 u", nerdie & jon b are both "burning 4 u", redman will "jam 4 u", wizo is "w8ing 4 u", the lunachicks say it's "2 bad 4 u", & korn is just "4 u". kill me? please? please?

We
the art of nonprocessing
stares blanking out imagery of obscene scenery
salesmanship of myriad pyramids
of pitch hook sale
the fish hook sails through words and sentences
and penetrates the final veil through the bullshit filter
and when its sharp end scrapes meat,
(yank)
pull reel.
Who is that screaming?
magic is now crying and begging to be recognized
a pitiful plea
hope no longer exists on your tv
