AOL Spam Espionage

AOL says worker sold screen names: It'll be fascinating to see how this plays out.

An America Online (TWX) software engineer was charged Wednesday with stealing 92 million AOL screen names and selling them to a spammer, federal prosecutors in New York said. [...]

Both [the AOL worker and the man he sold the addresses to] were arrested at their homes Wednesday, authorities said. They face up to five years in prison and fines of $250,000 under a national anti-spam law.

Does AOL really have 92 million active user accounts? Or was he selling him expired names?
